When it comes to arranging and managing your social care support, you can decide how much control and responsibility you want to have.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are four options, designed to give you different levels of control and responsibility. You choose which option is best for you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Option 4<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

This is the option where you can take control and responsibility for some parts of your support, but you leave the council to sort out the rest for you.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a mixture of Options 1, 2 and 3.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is an Option designed around you that means you can take responsibility for the parts you want to and feel able to control. This gives you lots of flexibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

This option might be a good fit for you if you want to use a Direct Payment for some parts of your support, but not for all of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

How does it work?<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

After your assessment, your social worker will create a support plan with you, to agree what you need support to help you achieve.<\/span><\/p>\n

You then choose which parts of your support you want to have responsibility for, and which parts you are happy to leave to the council to sort out.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you choose to use a Direct Payment for some parts of your support, this will mean you will handle money directly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who can use this option?<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

Everyone who is eligible for formal social care support through their council should be able to choose Option 4. This includes adults, children and young people, and people with any type of impairment or support need.<\/span><\/p>\n

Option 4 must also be offered to unpaid carers who are eligible for support in their own right.<\/span><\/p>\n

The only exceptions are that you cannot use a Direct Payment for part of your support if your council thinks:<\/span><\/p>\n
