{"id":3047,"date":"2024-03-23T14:54:56","date_gmt":"2024-03-23T14:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/handbook.scot\/sds-handbook\/?post_type=article&#038;p=3047"},"modified":"2024-08-22T11:01:37","modified_gmt":"2024-08-22T11:01:37","slug":"deciding-how-much-control-and-responsibility-you-want-to-have-around-your-support-carers","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/handbook.scot\/sds-handbook\/article\/deciding-how-much-control-and-responsibility-you-want-to-have-around-your-support-carers\/","title":{"rendered":"Deciding how much control and responsibility you want to have around your support (carers)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are an unpaid carer and you are eligible for formal support through your local council, you can decide how much control and responsibility you want to have for arranging and managing that support.<\/p>\n<p>You should be offered four different options for choosing how much control and responsibility you want to have.<\/p>\n<p>These options are designed to give you the level of responsibility you would like.<\/p>\n<p>Some people want to be responsible for all aspects of their support, and are comfortable managing money directly.<\/p>\n<p>Some people would prefer someone else to organise their support for them, while taking their views into account.<\/p>\n<p>Some people are in the middle, and want some responsibility, but would like someone else to handle other parts of their support.<\/p>\n<p>To enable you to have as much or as little responsibility as you want, your social worker must ask you how involved you want to be in organising your support.
